Job Description
Function Description:
Point of contact for all sites and suppliers in North America regarding Collins Transportation Management System (TMS) inbound implementation.
Discipline Description
Monitors the transportation and delivery of products with focus on Inbound traffic to Collins sites generated by Production and Indirect Suppliers. Drives Implementation and Continuous Improvement with the 3rd party TMS Partner from defining requirements through launch, post go-live support, to sustainable actions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Continuous Improvement - Quantifies and qualifies opportunities for continuous improvement (TMS enhancements) in areas of process, productivity and system capability that result in cost/overhead efficiencies.
Drive Savings - Drives the TMS Partner and Collins Organization to achieve TMS-related savings targets
Compliance – Work with site logistics leadership, supplier leadership, supplier shippers, buyers, carriers and TMS partner to ensure TMS – Shipping process improvement, standardization and compliance.
Drive Service - Work with the Transportation Managers, Suppliers and TMS Control Tower to provide feedback to preferred partners on performance.
Documentation - Complete and maintain TMS implementation documentation as required for Standard Work, Process Alignment, and Training.
Present - Works closely with key stakeholders to define and communicate project scope and ensure timely delivery of all project components. Presents status of project regularly to TMS Group Lead, cross functional Program Management Office (PMO), SBU, site logistics leaders and Supply Chain SLT.
Standard Work - Manages the design, configuration, testing, implementation, and on-going maintenance of all systematic specialty logistics workflows, including the interaction with upstream and downstream integrations. Includes TMS system updates.
Define – Work with site logistics leadership, supplier leadership, supplier shippers, buyers, carriers, Collins Digital Technology (DT), Collins Central Logistics, and TMS partner to ensure TMS has all data requirements needed are properly mapped during integration. Define “good data” and “bad data” for TMS inputs and outputs.
Ad-hoc: Additional responsibilities as defined by the TMS Group Lead or the PMO
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four (4) year college or university and 5 years related experience; or an Advance degree in appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
TRAVEL UP TO 20%
While most work is in normal daytime hours, global footprint and supplier base can require meetings or calls outside normal business hours. Reside in North America and able to travel within the region. While area of responsibility will be in North America, must be able to participate in online meetings in Asian/European outside normal business hours if required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Background in domestic and international freight in North America Experience implementing logistics process improvement projects in a complex environment and multiple modes (parcel, heavyweight air, truckload, less-than-truckload and dedicated carriage). Experience in Transportation Management System (TMS) large-scale implementation (industrial /aerospace preferred). Experience with ERP (SAP preferred). Experience with a variety of shipping / transportation software systems is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Excel inclusive of Pivot Tables, Vlookup, and concept of Paretos.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certification with Institute of Supply Management (ISM) and Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) are not required yet valued.
